Construction Industry Development Board

The Council

       How does it work?

The Board is administered by the Council. Sections 8 to 10 of the Act make provisions for the modus operandi of the Council.

The Council is mandated to provide leadership and guidance to management. Its key purpose is to ensure the success of CIDB by collectively directing the affairs of the organization.

The Council focuses mainly on setting strategies by determining strategic options, select those to be followed and decide the means and ways for management to implement them.

Members of the Council, other than the ex-officio members, hold office for a period of 2 years.

A member other than an ex-officio member may not serve for more than 2 consecutive terms, unless the Minister reappoints him on account of his exceptional experience or the importance of his continued membership for the purpose of implementing a plan of action that he initiated.

The Council meets monthly and holds special meetings whenever required to deal with urgent matters.
