Section (19) of the Construction Industry Development Board Act stipulates that “No person shall offer his services as a Consultant or Contractor unless he is registered under the Construction Industry Development Board Act”.
According to Section (2) of the Construction Industry Development Board Act, a Consultant means a Firm that provides consultancy services in the construction industry and includes a Foreign Consultant.
An independent professional who is not registered as a Firm is not required to be registered under the provisions of the Construction Industry Development Board Act and the Construction Industry Development Board (Registration of Consultants and Contractors) Regulations 2014 as subsequently amended.
There are 9 Fields of Specialisation under which a Consultancy Firms can be registered namely; ‘Architecture’, ‘Civil Engineering’, ‘Environmental Engineering’, ‘Interior Design’, ‘Interior Design’, ‘Landscape Architecture’, ‘Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Services’, ‘Project Management in Construction’, ‘Quantity Surveying’ and ‘Urban Planning’.
